Friend Family Square - a six inch square

Christal Friend 2008

Materials:

     2 or 3 colors of worsted weight yarn

     I hook

Stitches used:

     sc-single crochet, hdc-half double crochet, dc-double crochet,

     ch-chain, fpdc-front post double crochet, BLO-back loops only,

     FO- Finish off, st-stitch

With starting color ch 4, join to form ring.

Rnd 1) Ch 2, work 12 dc's in ring. Join to 1st dc. (12)

Rnd 2) Ch 2, (dc, fpdc) in each st around. Join to 1st dc. (24)

Rnd 3) BLO! Ch 1, (sc in 3 sts, skip 1 st, 5 dc in next st, skip 1 st)

     repeat 3 more times and join to 1st sc. (32)

Rnd 4) Ch 2, (dc in BLO of 3 sc, fpdc in next 2 dc, 3dc in next dc,

     fpdc in next 2 dc) repeat 3 times and join to 1st dc. (40)

Rnd 5) Sl st into next dc, ch 2, *(3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next st, skip 2

     sts, fpdc in next st, skip next st, (3dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next st, skip

     1 st, fpdc in next st, skip 2 sts, * repeat from * to* 3 more times.

     Join to 1st dc. (72)FO

Rnd 6) BLO! Join border color with a sc in 1st ch of ch 3 at corner,

     (3 sc in next ch, sc in next ch, sc in next dc, hdc in next dc, dc in

     next dc, skip next st, dc in next dc, hdc in next dc, sc in next dc,

     sl st in ch, sc in next dc, hdc in next dc, dc in next dc, skip next st,

     dc in next dc, hdc in next dc, sc in next dc, sc in next ch) repeat 3

     times. Join in 1st sc. (72)

Rnd 7) Ch 1, sc in each st around with 3 sc in each corner st.

     Join to 1st sc and FO. (80)

Weave in ends and enjoy!

Can be made using different colors for each round.
